A little history:
Bob Evans was part of Badfinger 1981-82, joining founder members Tom Evans & Mike Gibbins. Bob also collaborated with Joey Molland on many songs & Bob began working with Joey Molland in 1978-79, on his first solo CBS lp.
Kenny Harck put together an iteration of Badfinger in 1976, with founder members Tom Evans & Mike Gibbins, Joey Molland & pianist Nicky Hopkins. Kenny worked to get the band a record deal that resulted in the album “Airwaves”.
Steven John was in Badfinger in 1979-82 with founder members Tom Evans & Mike Gibbins; worked with Joey Molland in 1978-79 on his album.
John Evans Jr. Brings years of experience to the band, and worked extensively with Bob Evans.
Paul McCartney discussed the Beatles-produced supergroup Badfinger, highlighting Bob Evans from Badfinger performing with founding members Tom Evans and Mike Gibbons. This was during the Badfinger world tour from 1980-1982, which Frank Barcelona from Premiere Talent NY booked. They performed the global hit “Baby Blue” from “Breaking Bad,” featuring Bob Evans on lead vocals and guitar, alongside founding members Tom Evans and Mike Gibbons, at the Boston Stadium.
Additionally, Bob Evans was in New Zealand in November 2024, in a recording studio where he has a home with his wife, New Zealand beauty, singer-songwriter, and producer Donna Evans-King. They recorded a rough take of Badfinger’s #1 hit “Day After Day” with some local New Zealand musicians. This session was a casual gathering, not an official performance by Bob Evans’ band, Badfinger. Bob Evans’ friend, R&B superstar and Motown legend Freda Payne, who is opening the Badfinger world tour 2025-2026, also joined them. The tour kicks off on July 12 at the legendary Southwest music festival, where Badfinger and Freda Payne will perform. The festival, hosted and MC’d by Bob Evans’ longtime friend, the father and creator of Woodstock, Artie Kornfield, will take place on July 12, 2025. Tickets are now on sale for the historic Legends Outdoor Music Festival, which expects an attendance of 5,000 people.
